In fact, the great white shark is not even a rival in the awareness of the killer whale. Killer whale brain weight is 500 grams, and great white shark is only 20 grams. Killer whale brain furrow is much more complex than the great white shark, so the killer whale absolutely crushed the great white shark in intelligence. The body size of killer whale can grow to more than 8 meters, the weight can reach 5.5 tons, and the maximum size of the great white shark can only be about 6.5 meters, the weight is no more than 1.8 tons. So great white shark encounter the killer whale is doomed to be killed.

But killer whale is not interested in great white shark, because their meat is too dirty. Sharks have no urination organs, and their blood has high levels of urea, can only be eliminated through the skin. Sometimes killer whale attacks great white shark. It was hiding in the shark’s blind spot, then swimming under the shark’s belly at high speed and pushing the shark out of the water with its heads. One strike can kill shark. Then killer whale will take the livers out of shark and eat them. They’re picky and they only eat one of the parts. So great white shark is like a giant snack to killer whale, not even a dessert before dinner.

The color of killer whale is the same as our national treasure giant panda, and the appearance looks very cute. But in the eyes of sea creatures, this color is not friendly.

Killer whale like to hunt in groups. When they hunt, whales work very well together. When they round up the fish, the killer whales will take turns to enter the circle and eat. Killer whales also love to eat other whales in the ocean, such as humpback whales, fin whales., etc. Under the extreme condition, killer whales will also prey on blue whales.

In 2021, one photographers photographed a 15-meter-long adult blue whale that strayed into the orca groups and was torn to pieces by 72 orcas.

Killer whales have a wide range of distribution, as long as there are oceans in the world. They can go to the Arctic to hunt seals, but also prey emperor penguins in the Antarctic. It can eat any creatures it wants in the ocean, except submarines.

Strong rival – humpback whale

In the ocean, killer whales have an enemy called humpback whales. While humpback whale hears the voice of killer whale. it will run over to fight. That becomes conditioned reflex as millennium rival. Humpback whale is large to cause big survival challenge to killer whale.

While seeing a lone orca, humpback whale will use its pectoral fins to throw it out of the sea. After orca got syncope, humpback whale strongly hit its abdomen with the head. Humpback whale makes up a low percentage of the killer whale diet, so I don’t know why humpback whale always pick on killer whale. Humpback whale also intervene when killer whale hunts other whales.

Based on research, killer whales have a habit of hunting humpback whale babies. I think that is why humpback whale hateful to orca.

When underwater, killer whales can communicate with their companions through ultrasonic waves that can travel far distances. Biologists have found that orca language is rich. One orca group in Iceland has 24 different vocalizations. Orcas even whistle when they’re in a good mood, and the language system varies from group to group.

Killer whale nicknames kill human whale. It is absurd nickname because orca never hunted humans. So far, killer whale have killed only three people, all at SeaWorld in Florida, United States, and did by one killer whale. Two trainers and a tourist were killed.

Wild orcas are very friendly to humans, and sometimes orcas will play behind human dinghies. Wild orcas will stick out their heads for humans to pet. Scientists speculate that the killer whales use the sonar system to detect humans lungs like them, so they think people as their own kind. In the eyes of killer whales, human looks very cute.

Other experts speculate that killer whales have seen what humans can do, so they don’t dare to harm humans. Orcas are social and have a very strong memory, and it may be that some orcas have experienced human naval battles, and they were shocked by humans as spectators. A two-legged beast is terrible. Kill your own people!

In addition, humans can make large ships, which in the eyes of orcas is equivalent to controlling the giant beasts of the sea, so killer whales worship humans.
