Twenty-two years after the Jurassic Park disaster on Isla Nublar, InGen has now been acquired by Maslany International, and the park has been redeveloped, renamed Jurassic World, and has become one of the world’s most famous tourist attractions.

InGen’s dinosaur breeding patents were combined to form the scientific institution behind Jurassic World, which used dinosaur genes to conduct research on all aspects of the theme park to continuously breed new dinosaur species.

Indominus Rex project:

In the film, Dr. Henry Wu refers to this “Indominus Rex” as the first genetically modified dinosaur, which is not accurate, strictly speaking, all the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park were genetically modified to make them suitable for the environment of modern Earth.

Back in 1993, when InGen used mosquito blood preserved in amber to obtain a dinosaur genetic sequence, Henry Wu incorporated a West African tree frog gene into it to fill in an evolutionary missing piece of dinosaur DNA, so that the individuals would be able to adapt to the oxygen content of the modern Earth’s atmosphere and the nutrients contained in plants.

Since the dinosaur theme project was intended to be a park for human enjoyment and recreation, all of the bred dinosaurs were designed to be female so that they could not breed with each other, allowing the company to control the island’s dinosaur population.

But after the “Jurassic Park tragedy”, Henry Wu discovered that dinosaurs located on the Isla Sorn (at that time the company used to breed dinosaurs production base) due to the influence of tree frog genes, some dinosaurs under the action of certain chemical catalysts, their female organs will degenerate and grow new male organs.

The discovery inspired Dr. Henry to realize that it might be possible to combine genes from other animals with those of dinosaurs to create entirely new, human-engineered species for the company’s benefit.

With all the help of his middlemen, Dr. Henry’s project with the military began, and continued even after the 1997 tragedy on Isla Sorn, when InGen reputation hit a rock bottom. Dr. Henry used his genetic technology to fuse up to 12 different DNA sequences to create the first generation of what could be called a killing machine, the Indominus Tyrannosaurus Rex (officially, a completely new breed of dinosaur developed to attract new tourists).

Indominus Rex Gene composition:

Dr. Henry originally intended to directly modify the genetic sequence of Tyrannosaurus Rex and build it into a weapon project desired by the military. However, Tyrannosaurus Rex has many disadvantages, such as being too bulky, having a large head and short forelimbs, and having to use a huge tail to maintain balance. More importantly, Tyrannosaurus Rex has low intelligence. It was not suitable for training, so Dr Henry had to incorporate genetic traits from other organisms.

Originally, the military’s interest was in the company-owned Velociraptor, because these creatures are more intelligent than other dinosaurs and are ideal for training. It was this that alerted Dr. Henry to the fact that in order to build his project into a qualified “weapon”, the intelligence must not be too low, and the raptor genes are essential.

But the later effect was unexpected. Due to the influence of Tyrannosaurus Rex genes, the “Indominus Rex” was larger than the Velociraptor, and the brain size increased, resulting in the “weapon” is too intelligent, which is Dr. Henry had not expected.

The remaining one reached 15.6 meters in length as an adult and could run at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour. At the end of the film, the Indominus Rex enters the visitor area, and even though Claire releases the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Owen’s raptors are unable to defeat it. However, the story of the “Indominus Tyrannosaurus Rex” did not end there. After its death, the remains were left at the bottom of the lake. Henry Wu recovered some samples a few years later, and secretly improved the genes of the “Indominus Tyrannosaurus Rex” in the United States with the funding of Eli Mills, creating a better weapon grade creature. They were the Indoraptor, later introduced in Jurassic World: Lost Kingdom.
