Freehand sketching (design drawing)

This is a drawing of a mermaid by a client from Norway! Although it looks rough, the details of the face, hands, and hair are very clear in our 50+ email exchanges. After receiving the manuscript and confirming the details, we entered the production period (mechanical frame + silicone head and body production + sponge molding + accessory purchase).

Customized silicone head, body and hands model

In order to create a high quality mermaid model, we decided to spend a higher cost to create a realistic mermaid effect. First, the real face, body, arms and fingers of the mermaid are made of clay, then the human body mold was molded, and finally the silicone material was poured into molds to create vivid face, body and hands of the mermaid.

Because she is made of silicone, her face and body have the elasticity of human skin, and her hands and fingers have the palm lines and fingerprints of a human. If you look at her from a distance, she looks like a real person who plays a mermaid.

Customized animatronic mechanical frame based on silicone body size

After creating the silicone model of the body and head of mermaid, our mechanical department will perfectly welded the dynamic mechanical frame that fits the body according to the existing body size, and install the motors at the transmission points of the hand and head.

After that, the electrician tests the mermaid’s head and hand movements to make sure the mechanical dynamics are good before the sponge shapes (tail and body).

Sculpted fish body adn final color works (animatronic mermaid)

Our sculptor shaped the mermaid’s fish body. The scales of the fish’s body were carved out one by one. After that, our dye workers used silicone, gasoline and oil paints to completely restore the mermaid’s skin.

The electrician tested the mermaid’s body and the movement of the fish’s tail to ensure that 0 malfunction of mermaid model before out of the factory.
