Chickens are one of the most common poultry in the world. They are also an important food source for humans. But what many people may not know is that chickens are related to dinosaurs. It may seem like a strange idea, but the scientific evidence is compelling. Scientists have known that birds are descended from dinosaurs. Until recently, however, they found that chickens were more closely related to certain dinosaurs than to other birds. The discovery leads to a better understanding of the evolution from dinosaurs to birds.

Such scientific research has led many natural history museums to set up models of the ancestors of chickens, such as Anchiornis or Ornithomimus. These small and delicate dinosaur models placed in the Natural history Museum can not only visualize the evolution of dinosaurs to modern birds and chickens, but also be well equipped with a set of teaching props / models for the visitors. This is a wonderful combination of teaching and entertainment.

Now let’s take stock of 5 custom models of modern homologous poultry and birds such as Anchiornis, Ornithomimus and Velociraptors. These models were all bought by the operators of the Museum of Natural History / Museum of Geology and became popular exhibits.

Anchiornis Huxleyi Model

Although this life size dinosaur model is only 60 centimeters long, it took us nearly a month to complete the work. We have to carefully compare the characteristics of every hair and feathers on the body of the bird, and artificially dye and trim the materials after buying them back. Then, little by little, hair and feathers are attached to the shaped Anchiornis body. It was extremely time-consuming and labor-intensive.

Anchiornis Huxleyi model was ordered from a Polish customer. He runs the Museum of Natural History and needed the Anchiornithus model as a finishing touch as he set up a diagram of the evolutionary relationship between dinosaurs and modern chickens in the modern poultry exhibition hall. The customer loved this exquisite small dinosaur model and expressed their satisfaction to our careful production.

Bambiraptor Model

This is a 1.5-meter-long model of Bambiraptor. It was a relatively big Anchiornis, and during its time it was a Nemesis for big insects, and a prey for other small carnivorous dinosaurs. Fortunately, its speed and agility are very high, and it is a small dinosaur that runs very fast. This small dinosaur model took us two weeks to make, thanks to its big size, which made it easy for our artists to sculpture.

A privately-run geological museum in Vichy, France, ordered the Bambiraptor model. They placed this lifelike raptor on the side of an outdoor jungle road, and set up a map of how Bambiraptor evolved into modern poultry and birds, which is educational and entertaining.

Pyroraptor Model

This is a bigger, 2.5-meters-long model of a Pyroraptor. Pyroraptor was a feathered, bird-like, carnivorous paravian dinosaur that lived in France in Europe during the late Cretaceous period. We specially enlarged it to nearly double the size to make it, of course, this is also approved by the customer. This Pyroraptor model also took us 2 weeks to build, the red fur on the back and the blue feathers on the claws make it look especially gorgeous.

Pyroraptor actually made a brief appearance in the movie Jurassic World and is one of the more famous ancestors of modern chickens and birds. The Raptor model will be placed in the outdoor jungle of the Natural History Museum, and visitors will be able to see this gorgeous dinosaur model for the first time when they enter the outdoor tour.

Eoraptor Model

I made it tripling the size of the Eoraptor. After scientific research, the original Eoraptor was about 1.5 meter long, and this Eoraptor model is 4 meters long. This is the biggest ancestor model of modern chickens and birds in this article

This big Ancestral Chicken Model was ordered from the Natural Museum in Sweden, where it is mainly displayed in the exhibition “Dinosaur-Chicken-Bird Evolution”. This Eoraptor, as soon as someone approaches it, automatically emits sharp screams, and can also move its mouth and tail, which is very interesting.

Ornitholestes Model

This is a 2-meters-long Ornitholestes model, and it is placed in the outside jungle of the Geological Museum. Ornithosaurus was a theropod dinosaur that lived in the Late Jurassic in the western part of the continent of Lauria, in what is now North America. Although Ornitholestes is light in weight, its hind legs are as strong and powerful as ostrich’s, and long, so it can run fast and catch small animals quickly.

It is also the ancestor model of modern chickens and birds, and one of my favorite bird-like dinosaurs. The Ornitholestes model has been placed in the outdoor forest area of the Canadian Dinosaur Museum, and once visitors enter the area, they can interact with the Ornitholestes.
